Start here
Come back to the child.
When everything feels loud, begin with one steady question:
What does my child need from me right now?
- 01
What you can control
Name what you are feeling. Notice how you are responding. Choose one useful action that belongs to you.
- 02
Know their world
Learn the everyday details: what they enjoy, what feels difficult, and what helps them feel comfortable.
- 03
Prepare for the time you have
Think about what would help the child feel welcomed, settled and able to connect.
- 04
Regulate before reacting
Pause before responding. Give the child room to be a child, without carrying adult feelings.
- 05
Repair when needed
Acknowledge mistakes simply, listen, and let changed behaviour do some of the talking.
- 06
Keep learning
Children keep changing. Stay curious about who they are becoming.
